With its spine of sappy brightness and crystalline salinity, this wine displays all the dense, bright, and savory appeal of the Sonoma Coast. This is an expression showing citrus, coastal bay, and a textural depth to carry the mid-palate to a refreshing finish.

Last night the wine of the evening we opened the 2013 Failla Sonoma Coast Chardonnay from Napa, California.

On the nose there is beautiful notes of citrus, lemon, yellow apple, honeydew melon, white peach, vanilla, creme brulee, apricot and good minerality.

On the palate there is lemon, melon, white peach, honeysuckle, minerality and crushed gravel.

This is a wonderfully medium bodied wine with a rich vibrant mouthfeel and great balance medium + acidity that has a long citrus crushed gravel finish. I am not a big Chardonnay fan but I truly enjoyed this wine from Failla. Let us have a great weekend doing what we love to do, drink wine. Please be safe and continued good health. Nostrovia! 🥂🥂🥂🥂

While history of Failla (pron: FAY-la) is short it is not without its complexities. Founded as Failla Jordan in 1998, it took its name from the husband-and-wife team of winemaker Ehren Jordan and fellow debtor Anne-Marie Failla. That year they planted vines but began buying fruit to make wine. Fresh fruit aromas with citrus and honey scents. On the palate melon, pineapple and lemon zest flavors with light toasty notes. Savory, well balanced on lingering finish, great mouthfeel ending with mineral tones

That’s got some vivacity to it. Love the verve and tension in this wine. Pineapple, apple skin, fleshy but vibrant. Good value.
