This historic winery was purchased by Beringer in 1999 and also owns Meridian, Chateau St. Jean, Napa Ridge, Chateau Souverain and Stags' Leap Winery. A blend of Cab from several top Napa vineyards, aged separately for 19 months then adding a bit of Cab Franc to the final mix. Complex aromas of dark red and black fruits with sweet spice scents. On the palate black cherry and red plum flavors with leather, cacao and coffee, well balanced. Firm soft tannins, lingering finish ending with fruit and oak. Nice!

Big fruit on the nose, a bit of alcohol. Velvety full body. Delicious and drinkable.

For this special evening, let's toast to a great new year with this gorgeous Napa red.

Deep ruby in color.

Extremely big nose with figs, blackberries, plums, raisins, black pepper, black currants, American oak, cloves and vanilla.

Dry on the palate with plums, black currants, chocolate, blueberries, black pepper, and vanilla.

Full bodied and bold, with enough acidity to balance the tannins into smooth, round, long finish.

What an outstanding Napa Cabernet.

14% alcohol by volume with gorgeous legs.

Upon pulling cork, needs to open up...I can tell there's going to be something special there though. After 20 mins fruit is waking up, acid coming out. Nice

Pouring a glass I noticed a deep dark red wine with aromas of red and dark fruit and floral spice notes. Aged for 19 months, with majority of grapes from vineyards in Coombsville and Rutherford, the palate showed dark cherry fruit with plum and spice. Bright acidity, fine tannins make this wine approachable now, but needs a few years to develop. The finish is a bit robust and lingers nicely ending with oak notes.

Every ounce a Napa wine, but softer and gentler than some of its pricier friends. This property has always been in a bit of purgatory, but has amazing potential.

Drying out cherries, black currants and plum skin, but really lovely leather, olive and cocoa nibs. Elegance from a vintage that wasn't a blockbuster but still proving that good wine can be made regardless of what nature tosses at you if it's a thoughtful process. In magnum.
