A wine with great potential, this is quite young at the moment but has all the stuffing to age well. Profoundly savoury, with charred meat, smoked bacon and iron to complement the dark, inky-black fruits. I struggled to drink more than a couple of glasses of this each night, but here’s hoping it’ll knit together nicely with age.

Jul 30th, 2023Intense and brawny on the nose, with steeped blackcurrant, green peppercorn and lavender, also a strong herbal note. The palate is rich, saturated and has supple tannins but ample grip. A sweet note of vanilla carries through to the long, warming finish. What a wine!

Boysenberry jam, cured meats, dried herbs, med+body, tannins softened a bit, touch of sweet oak and minerality. Leaning a touch toward new world, but delicious none the less.

Super tight - took better part of 3 days for this to open up. Such a baby. Will wait for other bottles. Slight smoke, game, damp soil, blueberry paste, and a whiff of peppercorn. Wish I had decanted it straight up for 2 hrs

Jan 23rd, 2019My darling bottle at work right now. Straddles the pureness of Cornas with modern extract and FINESSE! Overwhelmingly broad on the nose and palate, with a soft pillow exit.

Big, dark and earthy! Smoked hints with dark dry fruit on the palate. Firm tannins.

Smells like ant-killer pesticide, in a good way. Musty white pepper, green fennel- impossibly dark cherry macerated to the smoothest tannins.

Give this 2-2.5 hours to open, when it does its spectacularly fresh with great depth. Violets, licorice, crushed rocks, blackberry, pepper and tobacco. Great stuff!
