Gran Reserva Maule Valley Carmenere

Deep Ruby, purple edges with aromas of ripe black fruit and herb black pepper notes. On the palate flavors of blackberry, currants and notes of tobacco with leafy herb notes. Fine chewy tannins, vivid acidity, medium+ finish ending with fruit and spice.

This Carménère shows a world of difference from the others in the TerraNoble line I’ve been trying. There is a boatload of dark fruit, to be sure, with black cherry getting into the act. The tannins are more reserved upon pouring while the acidity remains bright and juicy. It’s an excellent example of Chilean Carménère.

Smoked meat! Succulent sour cherries on the finish. Loveeeee

Deep fruit, dusty mouthfeel with herbal and green bell pepper notes.

Coffee. Like, right in your face. Tons of it. And then mellow fruit and a good hit of green bell pepper. Good structure, med acidity, med finish.

A carmenere through and through. Green pepper on the nose and the palate.

Tasted blind tonight. We all had a debate as to whether this was a Pinotage or a Carmenere. It was a split room. Needless to say plenty of coffee and green bell pepper.

The sour cherry aroma was alluring. But the flavor was off putting. First and last Carmenere.

Yumm, sophisticated Carmenere. Somewhere between a floral light merlot and a burgundy.
