The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon CA lifts up floral and exotic with spiced cherries and sage. It’s soft-natured, with a refined blend of mineral-tinged red berries and dusty inner florals. The CS takes on a tactile grip toward the close, finishing long and lightly structured. A fantastic value. (Eric Guido, Vinous, March 2023)

Tried it before it went into our beef Bourgogne, where it “paired” nicely.

High acidity and definitely could use a few years. It’s a lot better than I’d expected. Tonnes of flavours.

There’s a lot going on here. I feel bad for this wine, because it just had to follow an Orchidea.

Very complex. Very big. It doesn’t need time... but it does.

This three-year-old Washington State Cabernet Sauvignon is always enjoyable. Easy drinking and fruit forward with nice complexity and mouthfeel.

Showing black fruits with chocolate notes, light vegetables, earth, oak, licorice, vanilla, spices, espresso and peppercorn.

Good right out of the bottle, but better after 90 minutes of airtime, when the tannins come out to play.

Nice length on the finish with round tannins and tangy raspberries.

Drinking nicely now and will continue in the next couple of years.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

89 points.

This Cabernet Sauvignon from the House of Charles Smith is always enjoyable. Well balanced and fruit forward with black fruits, earth and chocolates.

Good by itself or with food. I paired it with Cheeses, olives and nuts.

Good right out of the bottle and better as it opens up (1 hour). Will get even better in a year or two.

It is time for my Friday's Cabernet fix. This time it's one from Columbia Valley.

Inky in color with a short purple rim.

Fruity nose with blackberries, blueberries, cherries, licorice, oak, earth, spices, leather, tobacco, chocolates and black pepper. Pretty much a California Cabernet nose.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with plums, cherries, black currants, oak, vanilla, cloves, tobacco, dark chocolates, peppercorn and spices.

Medium plus on the finish with firm tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a nice surprise for me. A great Cabernet from Washington State, from the house of Charles Smith. Showing nice complexity and well balanced with a great mouthfeel.

Good by itself as a sipping wine, which is how I had it, and will pair nicely with BBQ Meats.

Drinking nicely now, but needs a year or two to mature. Good right out of the bottle and better as it opens up (30 minutes).

Extracted, yet value derived. Shows the fruit easily enough, but falls short on the herbaceous and botanicals, though expected.

Color of hazy inky purple with some green brownish note on the rim. Nose of nice dark chocolate, black cherries, herbs, and a bit spice, all moderate strength. Taste of young and dominant acidity, powerful tannins, black cherry, and some bittersweet zesty note. Sweet cherries come stronger on the second wave, same is the bitterness probably from sulfates. Aftertaste is zesty(a bit too strong on my opinion), a bit dark chocolate, some cedar wood on the back of the tongue, and medium short. A wine that is above average to drink on a normal day. A wine that has enough flavors to qualify as a quality bottle but no WOW factor for a prime time.
