Peach blossom, floral, almost honeyed, gardenias, medium bodied, round(malo), medium acid. Really nice. Lower acid is acceptable for me since they dry farm and I would imagine, don’t add acid.

The golden tint has a green element to it. The wine’s nose is a veritable fruit basket of tropical aromas - pineapple, mango, lemons - and a quarry full of minerals. The mouthfeel is rich and creamy, yet with a zing of acidity that tingles. The palate brings Meyer lemon, some tangerine and a touch of apricot to the party. Delicious.

The entry-level white Rhône blend from Tablas Creek, one of Paso Robles’ iconic producers, is highly perfumed and energetic, displaying a mélange of vivid citrus and orchard fruit. During the month of January, the Wednesday Wine Committee has a unique format...the sparkler, whites and dessert wines can be from any vintage and any location, but the reds must be from the 2007 vintage. It was my first time providing a wine for a lunch, so I was excited to see how it showed. As always, all wines were served blind.
My guess here was Alsatian or German pinot Gris. This was fairly oily on the palate. Small bit of petrol. Some guessed Sauv Blanc, but it wasn’t tart or acidic enough in my mind. Unique.

Nice blend. Note 6 weeks later: this wine made it into WS '17 top 100 list with 93 points. Need to revisit away from a noisy restaurant.

Grenache Blanc aromatics, bright, white flowers, slight pear, young peach notes. Palette shines. Very nice zippy texture counterparted by full bodied fruit. Not heavy. Soft finish. California does Rhone right.

From the care they put into their vineyards—biodynamic farming, noisy sheep, a rambunctious trio of winery dogs, and a resident shepherd—the good folks at Tablas turn out elegant wines that are nuanced, superbly balanced and long aging. For the price, they're just that much more attractive. The 2016 Patelin de Tablas is fresh, light, convivial. Lemon curd and yellow apple lifted by a starburst of white mineral acid that courses through the center.
