This wine is quite young and at this stage is mainly showing off a heavy hand with oak. Fruit will emerge over time - black currant, black cherry, black plum, blackberry and violet are struggling against the heavy oak to come out. This is a high extraction wine, to my palate a little ponderous and out of balance but many will love the wine’s brawny appeal.

Deep ruby. Pungent nose. Black fruit and bing cherry shout through. Tannins were tamed. Full mouth feel.

This was paired with grilled bison ribeyes and it was a knockout pairing! Needed just about 5-10mins to blow off some funk. Very berry driven aromatically with fresh squeezed red and black fruits, licorice, and cedar. Decanted for about an hour and the tannins were completely softened. Boysenberry, currant, dark chocolate black cherries and cherry liqueur oozing over baked figs. Hard to say this will get better, but when paired with lean bison meat, the fruit cut through it perfectly.

Very cherry. One dimensional. Good structure with tannins that need an hour. Old school Cali cab.

Nice standard Napa cab. Soft acids, easy but fun spices. Opens up quickly and drinks smoothly.

Not much nose here and never came around after a couple hours in the decanter. The palate was as expected, showing rich fruit that has softened a bit, but hasnt matured. The tannins are all but gone, time to drink em.
