Blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot, deep Ruby color with aromas of dark fruit, sweet spice and herbs. On the palate flavors of cherry and blackberry with tobacco, cinnamon spice, toasty oak and herb notes. Firm tannins, long finish ending with fruit, spice, oak, herb and mineral character, Nice, should age a bit.

Group WOTN but I never got this one. By-the-book and quality Napa cab, it was just a bit soup-less. Would go great with a steak or any good food.

Rich and full bodied with enough residual tannin to stand up to the 30 oz. porterhouse at Bern's Steak House. Restaurant price about 2X retail.

Deep scarlet violet glass with translucent scarlet rim. Medium nose of blackberry jam, clove, eucalyptus against a subtle background of dry tobacco and leather. Medium full bodied tart acid hit to the palate of dark fruits, pepper and cocoa. Finishes long with big soft chalky tannins. Well balanced wine with good structure. At $37.99 USD, a little dear but still good for the occasional splurge or accompaniment to your rich dish.

This is Darioush’s entry level wine. Picked this up about two years ago when I first started enjoying wine. Very muted at pop and pour...wondered if it could possibly have a tiny bit of cork taint. 30mins later, it came to life a bit. Very dark in the glass. Blackberries, violets, and an earthy note. A bit thin on the front and mid palate...finish of raspberries, cassis, and a tiny bit of cocoa. Finish was nice and could probably go a few more years based on tannic structure, but I don’t see this getting exponentially better.

EDIT: Small improvement after a very long decant. Re-corked and will check in tomorrow. Day 2: Much better and more tied together. Though I don’t see this hitting a 9.5 in its lifetime, I could see this go 9.2-9.3 with 3-5 more years.

New score reflects most recent taste impression.
