Star of a two Bandol night, but this at age 14( minus a week or two). Deeper, plush, black violet & cassis nose; on palate tannins really nicely integrated, wild blackberries, more cassis & black currants. Crazy elegant and generous. Feels open. Distant notes of some kind of bark & forest floor. Older wild flowers.Eye opener, in sense of how far Bandol can go for me.

Someone please report to @Delectable Wine that this is the regular Gaussen Bandol, not the Longue Garde. Nevertheless, I “garded” this a “longue “ time, and it’s now amazing. Tree bark, ooozily ripe Mourvèdre fruit, loads of tilled gravel. Rustic and rich, with lots of tannin remaining. Country wine!

Keep for rewards. One of the unsung heroes of great red Bandol with another serious offering. Allez Les Gaussens !

A bit bretty, but not unpleasantly so. Fairly ripe style and a bit more approachable in its youth than other producers.

Deep plum and dark fruit. Baked earth. Dill. Mint. Meaty core with barnyard perimeter. Depth and length just beginning to soften.

Just a wonderful Magnum of Mouvedre this is where the payoff of waiting for a bottle to come to its peak is all worth it !
