Wow. Very good. Rose petal, red fruit and rock dust nose. Stern and formidable tannins on the palate that won’t ever soften while this is alive but now they are complemented by generous fruit, zingy acid and seductive body. Prime drinking now

The 2013 Gattinara is a fabulous introduction to these wines. Beautifully lifted and medium in body, the 2013 is supremely elegant in every way. Crushed red berries, rose petals, mint, pine and wild flowers are waft out of the glass in this striking, super-expressive, entry-level Gattinara from the Antoniolo family. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, April 2020)

Maybe not the perfect time to drink this 76 normale, I did find it to radically improve with air and delivered on its price. Very lifted, volatile and that old leather Bretty musky socks and saddles style. (Drink Lopez or Musar?). This being my first Antoniolo, I now believe there are some great bottles with serious age out there calling to me. I will seek to answer this call. πŸ“£ πŸ™‹πŸ½β€β™‚οΈ

Great purity. Taken back the relative concentration of fruit this has. Ample tones of cherry, earth, and a cooling note of mountain herbs and flowers that almost all these N. Piemonte wines have. Love the emphasis of fruit and herbal spice. Still carries focus across the palate with compact tannin. These never really let me down.

Strong showing of an elegant near-40yo nebbiolo

Very strange, hamster cage and new soccer ball. Lots of depth

Delicious freshness to this bright and lovely wine that has terrific energy and an attractive red fruit profile.

Leather tar, cherry, campfire, and nice integrated tannins. Not as nuanced and elegant as Barberesco, but would not argue against it otherwise.

Strong tannins and well structured. Pair with charred red meat and sunchokes - worked quite nicely.
