Third 90 Ponsot bottle served blind. This is bright tawny and translucent. When compared to the CSD served before it, this is more masculine with a dark cherry nose that is tight for the first 4-5 hours. By the time it’s served, though, it’s opened up and comes on as a rich and very powerful glass of juice. In addition to the regular notes of bing cherry, dark earth and rhubarb, this adds some mocha and a little cherry cola as well. Has a Rousseau-like precision in its delivery. From where it started to where it ended ~9 hours after opening, this evolved and improved the most. Great experience! (Bday 8 of 12)

I always loved griottes it is undeniably a Chambertin but it is more perfumed and a touch lighter than its illustrious neighbors. Silky red fruit and spices, super long burn totally at its plateau. Great wine.

Complex and expressive with sappy red and black fruits, tea leaves, smoke and minerals with a gorgeous silky mouthfeel. The finish is long and persistent with great intensity.

No. 3 Wine in the 9 Wine Gevrey bracket. Reasonably subdued nose showing mushroom and compost notes. Some sweetness on the medium bodied palate. Good acid with M+ tannins. A long life ahead.

Like any Ponsot this needs time.
Had I had this as a by the glass pour at a wine bar I would have said 90+ but given the opportunity to follow this over 2+ hours with dinner this really blossoms.

Feb 19th, 20173rd in the bracket of 9 and my least pointed Gevrey. Not giving much on the nose. Also lacking somewhat on the palate finishing with some astringency. Not living up to the Ponsot reputation.

Really good, hit a really nice bottle has this producer and Vintage can be highly variable.
