Crossed this off the bucket list. Solid bottle, but nowhere close to being worth the hype or the price tag.

i’m not sure if this bottle was affected by travel. as the wine was cloudy and showed a lack of delineation and clarity. while there still was some fruit there it was too muddled to be a truly enjoyable drink.

Slightly high toned nose. Whiff of VA and some separation between body and nose. Some soft developed raspberry and a gravelly gevrey-like character. Quite punchy on the nose- cloudy and dirty. I guessed a lot older than it is. Decent.

Ripe and sweet. Broad, ripe and spicy. Kind of murky in the glass, as Ponsot can sometimes be.

This magnum is one of the best Burgundies I've ever had. Totally bursting with energy and perfume, it still smells like fresh little wild berries. Incredibly youthful; I will be happy if I age anywhere near as well as this.

In perfect condition and showing really well. Silky and dense palate that was in perfect harmony and far from mature at almost 40.

Birth year wine!! And it was actually great!! Still lively red fruits, Smokey cured meats, and dried rose petals. Pair with a slim Jim.

Birthyear Grand Cru - a gem from an overall poor vintage in Burgundy, still plenty of life & crisp fruit character, and so much great acidity
