Maria Ribera del Duero Tempranillo

Christmas lunch date at V. Mertz. Poured into a decanter just before service. No formal notes. The wine is vinous and showing lovely secondary notes. A mix of red and dark desiccated fruits, leather, mocha, pipe tobacco, earth and baking spices. Tannins have mostly integrated. A fully mature wine that ready to drink and an excellent pairing with the grilled pork pate melt.

At first felt too was a bombed out shell of a Ribero--but really at end of day had some elegant aromatics & lovely lingering fruit.

La música del vi

Very chewy, great core of fruit but too much alcohol even sticking through that! Cellar

dark, almost black, warm in the nose and warm in mouth. Coffee Very alcoholic. Burning sensation.
Plums, lavender

Confituré, assez équilibré

Really extracted. Smoky and pruney. Same village as Pingus

Molt bo, potser un puntet més alcohòlic que el 2008, però òptim per beure’l. Cos mig-alt, rodó en boca amb un punt d’aspror final. Regust llarguet.

Very dry but clean and strong hints

Espectacular després 11 anys, al punt òptim per beure! Vi 100% tempranillo, mot rodó i ben acabat. En nas fruita vermella madura, flors seques i punts balsàmics. Entrada mitja que després sobre en boca amb gran volum i complexitat, un puntet estringent final. Molt equilibrat. Regust molt llarg. Per disfrutar.
