Very solid for a California/Paso Robles Syrah. Opens with ripe blackberry, plum, burned match head, sweet dried tobacco, dried thyme, and a pretty smooth tannins (French oak). The high alcohol (15.3!) is not as aggressive as I usually experience for wines over 14%. It was a perfect pairing with smokey Santa Maria tri-tip and mustard- Parmesan roast cauliflower. The smokiness of the wine was amplified with the smokey BBQ.
