This was the mystery wine at the Downs Club Committee dinner on Wednesday night and I was a long way from picking it. I don’t want this to sound snooty but I rarely drink Cotes de Bordeaux and on this showing I should be. Merlot dominant medium bodied with red fruits, a touch of tobacco and grainy tannins. Incredible QPR - can be bought for $30 in Australia.

A veggie wine, pyrazene, stems and leaves, mushroom, crushed stones, barn yard, tart red cherries and cranberry, blackberries, medium plus concentration and staining. Medium plus to elevated acidity and alcohol. Elevated coarse tannins.

Decent wine that would probably be much better if it wasn’t sitting in the sun all day and drunk out of a Walmart cup while sitting alone to a dinner of plain corn nuts and beef jerky.
