This still tastes fairly young. In comparison to the ‘03 Reserve I opened in May, this isn’t as complex, but it’s just as young. Prune, black licorice and blackberries. Tannins are mostly integrated so the palate is incredibly smooth. Front and back palate aren’t as full as the mid-palate where the fruit is still dominant. No rush to open.

Barrel room in my face. Tons of vanilla extract, toasted notes and mocha coffee. Highly concentrated black and red fruits. Yes, it’s very oaky maybe a little overwhelmed but it’s balanced and delicious on the palate. Welcome to Napa.

Sweet tobacco spice cherry liqueur very ripe and forward mocha and sweet oak still showing dark spices. Wow an explosion of sweet cherry and currant berry fruit with no hard edges, sweet toasty oak spice and quite fresh on the finish. Finish 50+ most excellent
