On the nose, much dark fruits of; black berries, black cherries, strawberries, blueberries, burnt ambers, cinnamon and fresh red florals. Creamy, ripe fruits on the palate. bodied fruits of; raspberries, dark cherries, black raspberries and strawberry preserves. Body is lean. Cinnamon, clove, black earth, sticky tannins, chalkier that the others. Good finish that is rich and plenty of acidity. More photos of their view and outdoor patio. Good place to chill for and hour or two.

Lighter and fruitier than their Marlborogh cousin. More tropical fruits and less grassy.

Decanted for 3hrs. Great blinder, most people called out CA and Burg. Complex, extracted, love the tannin quality. Deep red fruits, ash, lemongrass, red pepper.

Black fruit flavours, reasonably long, soft, held up well at 11 years old (screw cap)

Havoc Farm, Gibbston. Probably the best Pinot I have ever had. No, let me restate that. The best Pinot I have ever had. Vibrant, earthy, minerally finesse, intriguing, complex and surprising. What else do you want a wine to be? Really, liked it!!! Paired it with grilled lamb chops and a home made marion berry based sauce. Yum!

The low scores for this great wine are surprising. While not the sexiest of the Otago pinots this is a brilliantly made wine with great aging potential. At five plus years, the 13 is still dark and brooding, dark fruit driven with a racy seam of that saline and Asian spice profile that distinguishes good NZ Pinot. On the fuller bodied side, red and black fruit on the nose, a bit of tannin to give it structure and a medium to long finish that reveals jasmine tea and more spice. Alas, my last bottle of three my good friend brought for me from Saskatchewan
