Not a wine of great depth or complexity, but of really nice balance and a great weeknight dinner companion. Nose has bright cherry and lifted minerality, as well as a bit of spice. Slender and juicy in the mouth. Great acidity and very smooth-textured.

Earth, spice, earth, red fruit, ripe black cherry, cassis and peppercorn. Big gripping tannin, chalky, black fruit. Reminded me of a Nebbiolo. Very concentrated.

Vintage 2015 - Made from Nerello Mascalese. Recognizable by its very light colour. You got to taste good to appreciate: good acidity, a hint of strawberries and good balance. Not mind blowing but some refinement. Good Italian choice for Burgundy fans.

If you find the Nero Davola too heavy, this one is for you. A Sicilian red that has the earthy qualities that Etna provides, but so much lighter than other reds from the region. This has hints of nutmeg and cinnamon. Very light cherry on the finish. Good warm weather trattoria wine.
