A deep ruby color, with the distinctive red mountain nose. Figs. Blackberry fruit. Black cherry. Mellow tannins. Lingering finish.

Magnum. Wish I hadn't tasted so late into the night to have enjoyed it more than I did.

Awaiting our winter storm in mid March I have opened the 2013 Mark Ryan Winery Long Haul Red Mountain Bordeaux Blend. 51% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Franc, 8% Cabernet Sauvignon, 1% Petit Verdot.

On the nose there are notes of Black Cherry, Blackberry, Black Plum, Graphite, Charcoal, Black Currant, A nice Floral notes and Minerality.

The palate sees Black Cherry, Strawberry, Blackberry, Roasted Green Pepper, All Spice, and a Smokey Oak.

The wine has a medium to full body mouth feel with medium + acidity and medium smooth tannin with just a bit of grip.

A nice wine to start the weekend off right. It just loses that little something I always look for in my Bordeaux Blends. Have a great week and be safe. It looks like mine has a bit of snow in the forecast for Monday and Tuesday. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🖒

Mark Ryan never disappoints. This is a beautifully balanced wine-the fruit, non-fruit and structure are all in sync.

A little oaky but great balance of fruit to acidity.

Holy smokes. Not full throttle with extraction or oak, but in it for the long haul, as the name suggests. Exceptional aromatics from Cab Franc and a graceful mid palate from Merlot with a bit of weight supplied by Cab. For me, the best of these three grapes in living harmony.

DO NOT TELL ANYONE ABOUT THIS WINE. I want it to stay around $50. In love. Medium to full bodied with a treasure chest of dark red fruits, pencil shavings and super subtle oak tones on the nose. Long lean finish with pleasing acidity and fine tannins.
