The 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon J. Daniel Cuvée is a big, potent wine that shows the ultra-rich, concentrated style that was in vogue at the time. There is plenty of dark fruit, chocolate and torrefaction character, but less in the way of finesse in the aromas, flavors or tannic structure. Sadly, the 2001 is past peak; any remaining bottles need to be finished. Vineyard sources were Vine Hill Ranch and Mole Hill. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, April 2023)

This is a wonderful Cabernet Sauvignon from a great vintage in Napa.

This 14 year old Magnum is showing great complexity with a soft mouthfeel. Big and bold. Rich and extracted.

Showing black fruits with cedar, vanilla, licorice, earth, spices, chocolates, tobacco and peppercorn. Elegant and delightful.

Long long finish with firm tannins and tangy raspberries.

Drinking deliciously right out of the bottle, but even better after an hour of airtime. Beautiful nose once it opens up, so be patient.

Would continue to age nicely in the next 10 years.

A great sipping wine. No need for food here, but would also pair beautifully with a big piece of steak.

100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes were aged in French oak barrels.
Drinking this from a Magnum.

15.2% alcohol by volume.

96 points.

$450 (Magnum).

I would of not necessarily call this Howell MT fruit as it has a little bit of hillside/valley floor to it. PNP at this point. 10- The beginnings of a great bottlings. Cheers

Well balanced. Surprisingly fruity. Would have thought 10 years not nearly 25.

waves of blackberry, cassis, boysenberry, violets, cigar box, charcoal & licorice on the nose ~ addition of plum & mocha on the palate ~ a rich & voluptuous pure Cabernet Sauvignon from vineyards in Calistoga, Oakville & Stags Leap District

Full medium ruby. Mineral-driven, claret-like nose combines aromas of cassis, blueberry, espresso, dark chocolate, bell pepper and celery salt. Wonderfully savory if quite reticent on the palate, offering very suave, fine-grained flavors of black fruits, spices, tomato stem and herbs; I would have guessed that there was some Cabernet Franc here owing to the hints of licorice and violet. Not a particularly opulent wine but long on complexity and soil character. Make sure to decant this wine if you plan to open it soon, or, better yet, give it another few years of cellaring. (75% new oak; like many of her Napa Valley colleagues, Robin Lail described 2010 as a difficult growing season) (Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, May 2020)

Smoke, cherries, blackberries, meat. This is one substantial wine. Striking intensity. Delicious. And a little overwhelming.
