Dark reddish purple. Black plum and licorice on the nose. Full-bodied palate of plum, graphite, licorice leather. Medium acidity; firm (medium plus) tannins. There is still much time in this very well-made Mediterranean example. Limoux may be a place to watch if you’re not already.

This wine is characteristically a great representation of what a Merlot based blend can be. I opened it WAY too young. I'd say for the 2012 vintage 2018-2020 is the earliest I'd open this again. On point though. Tannins need time to calm down and soften.

My first red Limoux drank for stage 14 of #TourdeFrance. Interesting blend of three "Oceanique" cepages merlot, cab, cab franc and 3 "Mediterranéen" grenache, syrah, malbec. Very fruit forward and smooth with some strong Bordeaux aromas. Not surprising it reminds me of L'Aventure. A little more rustic but nice.

Intense spice. Dark leathery fruit. A sipping wine with great complexity as it started with breezy white pepper spice and finished with deep dark bitter lingering tobacco tannins. The aroma was like a fresh autumn mountain breeze. A bit unbalanced. Perhaps need to age more.
