Rutherford Merlot

Delicious and dusty Merlot from Rutherford.

Just a gorgeous representation of classic Napa and the beautiful wines from the 2011 vintage, all 🌿, 🌸 and 🌎 elements all wrapped in a core of fruit, texture and brightness. Run, don't walk, if you have this 💎 in your cellar.

A well made Merlot, red and blue fruit, chocolate, cigar wrapper, nice old soil.

Slightly underipe and vegetal at first... but not offensive and it blows off. I suspect this will integrate nicely with age. Good now nonetheless.

Frog’s Leap produces wine under the leadership of John Williams, a former dairy farmer from New York who created the winery in 1981. Great wine for Merlot lovers. Nice ripe dark fruit aromas. Wine has a small amount or Cab Sauvignon & Cab Franc added to give this wine nice structure. Plum and ripe blackberry flavors with wafts of cacao. Soft tannins, good balance, a joy to drink. Should age nicely over next 5-7 years.

Tad green. dark cherries. Medium body.

More right bank then most Napa, Loire valley ish even. Super spicy and dusty and killer with a good burger.

One of my favorite things about Frog’s Leap is the ability the wines have for aging. Eight years and still a lot of fruit. Nice natural earth tones and a silky smooth finish, with just a dash of that Rutherford dust.

One of my Favorites! Very good wine at a decent price! Love the Rutherford version better than the regular Merlot. Usually have at our functions/parties.
