Sipping Fine Wine

Deep Ruby with pronounced aromas of dark red fruit, tobacco and spice. On the palate this powerhouse red shows flavors of blackberry, black cherries and black currents, with tobacco, cacao and mineral spice, good structure and balance. Fine full tannins, lively acidity, toasty oak, espresso and spice. A blend of Tempranillo and Graciano, some vintages add Mazuelo. Will improve with some age.

My notes on the 2008 still stand, but this 2009 is had two years later and has further to go. Aged magnificently and plenty of time left. All the leather, earth, sandalwood, and rose petal combo any rioja lover would appreciate.

Some big boy fun. Incredibly complex profile that starts with the nose. Dried rose petals, spice, and a leathery kick. Dried fruits and a big overripe cherry flavor on the front with some tight acidity and hot spiciness. Could have aged a bit longer but ten years in and I think it’s prime. Paired with a greasy sausage pizza and couldn’t have asked for better.

Really oaky at the start. Opened up with time. Berries shine.

Nose: Oakley, dark cherries, coffee, vanilla, fennel, baking spices
Taste: coffee, dark cherries, strong tobacco, pomegranate. Strong tannins, low acidity, medium body.

Love the complexity, and the balance is delightful. Great nose and flavor.

Deep garnet red almost ruby red. Quite an earthy nose with notes of forest floor, a bit dirty, dark cocoa and a touch of raisin. Similar notes on the palate with solid acidity. Notes of dark red fruits, black currants and some petrol. Well integrated tannins (5.5/10) and medium body. Medium plus to long finish. Drink till 2023.

Whoa!!! This is a big one no doubt. Ripe and loads of oak, but it handles it well. So enjoyable for a couple of glasses and a true crowd pleaser. Well done but not overdone

Super-massive Rioja! This wine may not be typical but it is delicious.

Tad too much American oak flavors, but something I should have opened in 5 yrs.
