1980 Chalone Pinot Noir out of a MAG! Wow never would have believed a 35 year old Pinot from California would hold this well! Great fruit in mouth, good acidity and body. Showed all 18 of us in Monday Night Wine Group. NICE

More homework...
This wine is smoking good! It's Burgundian counter part has to be Bonnes Mares from an equally good vintage. Very impressed with its umami qualities, fragrant aromas, spicy palate, tannin structure is firm, fine. Well balanced. Its imperfections kept at an attractive minimum.
2.5cm ullage
Abv. not listed per the era. I'd say 13.5%
30min aeration (temp also warmed) helped the wine gain weight, viscosity, savory richness.
