This is an interesting Merlot from the oldest winery of the Americas. It’s lighter and more acidic than what one would expect from a French or Cali Merlot. At the same time, under the blasting Caribbean sun, this is a total plus. Almost feels like chugging Rose.

Tight at the open. Tobacco and licorice on the nose. Dense and restrained; excellent value for the price. Opened up after half an hour. Paired well with mesquite-fired beets, filet mignon, and braised short ribs
