Really lovely and while the fruit is almost holding on, it is starting to separate from the tannins so it is silky followed by nice gripping tannins. Steak wine for us more “mature” folks.

Sep 3rd, 2018Great ruby color. Light to medium bodied with a big mid palate punch. Loads of rose petals with some dried strawberries and a hint of pepper/spice.

An awesome bottle that @Mark Flesher opened while at Classic. My knowledge of CdP and Rhône Wines is very small, but I’m slowly gaining appreciation.
Drinking very well, but probably 3-5 years out of optimal drinking. A lot of black cherry, black tea, and black pepper on the nose. Didn’t have as much spice than other CdPs, which I appreciated. Fairly soft and red fruit driven. Got better in the glass. One of the better CdPs I’ve had.

It was Weston’s hosting today for the Wednesday Wine Committee and probably the most informative lunch to date. Though everything was tasted “blind” as usual, we were all given a list of grapes to choose from for the whites and the reds, since they were all meant to be very similar.
After the Tempranillo, this was the easiest to guess. Dark, full, still acidic, and a slightly muted nose at first. I didn’t get a lot of olive or black pepper that I do out of many CdPs, but there was a bit of smoked meat and dark floral notes. Really enjoyed it.

The initial taste is fresh with a round mouth-feel, fruits contrasted by sharp tannins. It evolves into spice, tobacco, freshly chopped wood; all the while performing a try-partite symphony on the palate - well balanced between sharp, mellow, and deep earthy flavours impossibly cascading over the senses all at once. The finish is savoury and sweet, it begs for a taste of strong cheese, and leaves the mouth watering - dearly anticipatory of the next sip.

Ripe dark fruit, dried floral, cocoa, leather, earthy. Great balance, nice lasting finish, fun wine.
