Terroir Découverte Chablis Chardonnay

I like Piuze's description of a "sitting down wine," a wine crafted for food. This wine may lack a little of the finesse of a premier or grand Cru but it is wonderfully enjoyable - crisp acidity alongside fleshy lemon and orange peel. Lovely flinty character accentuated by a few years' age.

This is the 2014 Terroir Decouverte. Chiseled, very pretty, sea salt, iodine and wet limestone. Lively in mouth, rich and textured. Acidity medium.

With soup dumplings and rice cakes :)

This was a lovely drink, couldn't have been anything other than Chablis - 2013

Excellent value and with a couple of years age it has integrated is acidity very well. Crisp clean Chardonnay, very pure fruit.

Perfect with cheese. Good acid but round finish.

Nose is linear and soft. Lime, beer foam, chalk, apple blossom. Palate is juicy, broad, mouth-filling with loads of golden apple, lime, rocks, and underripe melon. Zippy.

Ripe and delicious. Only 5 years but quite full for a Chablis. Modern interpretation and very drinkable.

Tasting side by side with fye. Both are delicious - both are filled with lemon and crushed oyster shells but decouverte is a bit rounder compared to fye being more bright & sharp!
