Monte Real Rioja Tempranillo

Wine of the night for me. Shocking freshness that lead me to think this was around 20 years younger. Sweet cherry that lead into coconut and pickle brine with tobacco and Rosemary.

Raisin and brett. On the palate dried fruits, dried herbs and earthy.

Pretty, typical, stewed fruit and powdered vanilla, fine grained tannins. Lovely.

It's amazing how refreshing and easy to drink some of the old #rioja are. They pass over the palate softly and lightly, which is not to say they are watery just that they're light and earthy.

Dried flowers herbs and dried tobacco spice with a nice amount of light red berry fruit. Very soft and smooth with an array of spice earth and tongue tingly acidity.

Christmas spicy and but mellow, integrated, and smooth. Had aged very nicely and drinking great, but near the end of the runway.

Great wine. 20 yo Rioja. Very very tasty.
