Last night I had the pleasure of opening the 2016 Domaine Jean-Claude Ramonet Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru "Clos Saint-Jean", Cóte-Dor, France.
On the nose are notes of cherry, raspberry, strawberry, clove, hibiscus, vanilla, hints of smokey oak and forest floor.
On the palate the is cherry, raspberry, cranberry, hibiscus, spice, lighly licorice, mushroom and earth.
This wine is beautifully medium to medium + body with medium + acidity and medium fine supple tannins that leads into a wonderful long fresh red fruit earthy finish. Today starts another week of meetings and working hard to enable ourselves to enjoy the weekend that brings us joy and relaxation. Please have a wonderful week and stay safe and healthy. A little bit of soy in this massively structured, Barolo like red Burgundy didn't ruin it! Who knew that this very good bottle of burgundy could be beaten out by a negociant bottling from the same vintage!
