Fun wine, last vintage I had was the 2011…nice and bright! Tart cherry, strawberry, and leather. Yum! 🍷

Medium Ruby with aromas of dried fruits and sweet herb spice. On the palate flavors of cherry and dried jammy berries. Full body, medium acidity and soft tannins, good balanced, medium finish ending with fruit, herb spice and warming alcohol. Drinks well now, recommend not to age further. Pair with a nice bowl of pasta.

Cherry, earth, slight tar, rhubarb, plum skin, dried herbs, medium to soft tannin and nice acid. Great with spaghetti squash spaghetti.

I may be biased going into this review because the Allegrini Valpolicella (‘17) just happened to be the perfect pick for the mood and tone of the night. So bear with me as I attempt to not go overboard.

Even on the first pour it’s lush and soft but lively, with notes of rhyme, a very pronounced lining of berries that frames the expectation. The pour on the palate, even the first glass on the table is a soft and yet juicy combination of those very berries framed by soft tannins.
...it’s just a joy. Upon decanting the Corvina that’s the main player not only softens and “smiles”- but opens upon the palate with deeper and richer notes. For such an affordable wine. This thing is joy in a glass.

The finish is what I think is the only MINOR gripe regarding the wine from this vintage. It’s good and chewy but a little abbreviated.

But it too grows with time to breathe.

Anyway: loved it.

Medium Ruby with aromas of red fruits and herbal notes. On the youthful palate flavors of plum, black cherry and raspberry, a bit rustic with herbal notes. Medium acidity and tannins, easy drinking good value wine on a medium finish. Tasting Sample.

At Harry’s on Buderim Restaurant. Colour is mid crimson. Aromas of earth and red fruits, cherries in particular carrying over to the palate. Clean fruit - Light to medium weight with mild Tannins and acid - a savoury lively tang. Not for long cellaring - drink now. Always liked the wines from Allegrini. Went well with Pork Belly.

I would call it friendly on the red and slightly aggressively heavy on earth for a young Valpolicella. This gets a strong earthy blast. But mostly a ripe cherry cheer. And a mid cinnamon-y blast at the end. There’s something that makes me say there are more blackberries in this but nah...this wine is not so worth it. Sorry, wine.

#wsetschool Light and youthful Valpolicella that seems underripe with its vegetal, green pepper and red cherry notes. Signs here of carbonic maceration with a false bubblegum scent. Simple wine with high acidity, but low tannins and light body - a bit more red fruit of strawberry and raspberry on the palate but it lacks a finish.
