The 2019 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is youthfully understated, requiring coaxing to reveal its depths of dried black cherries, mocha and cloves, all lifted by a hint of fresh mint. This impresses with its blend of sweet spices, opulent ripe wild berry fruits and silken textures, all balanced by brisk acidity and a pleasantly bitter tinge of dark chocolate toward the close. This finishes classically dry with dramatic length and potency, leaving a coating of fine-grained tannins that saturates, promising many years of positive evolution. Allegrini knocked this one out of the park. Wow. (Eric Guido, Vinous, February 2024)

Cocoa, cinnamon and clove come together with crushed plums and balsam herbs as the 2018 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico blossoms in the glass. This is silky and enveloping yet cool-toned in feel, with depths of dark red fruits nicely contrasted by a core of saline minerality. The 2018 finishes structured and long, tugging at the palate with grippy tannins as hints of Baker's chocolate and inner rose slowly fade. This is a vertical and racy edition of Allegrini Amarone, but it will require some time to come fully into focus. (Eric Guido, Vinous, March 2023)

Medium Ruby with aromas of dried fruits and sweet herb spice. On the palate cherry, blackberry jam and licorice flavors. Full body, medium acidity and soft tannins, well balanced, long finish ending with pepper spice and warming alcohol. Drinks well now, recommend not to age further. Pair with a nice bowl of pasta.

Dinner with co-workers during one of my monthly visits to our greater Atlanta office.

Decent bottle, needed lots of air to get going, luckily proper stemware was provided.
Mostly ripe, dark fruits, dried cherry, licorice, enjoyable.

Tobacco, cedar and spice notes frame dried black cherries and bitter chocolate. Resolved tannins. Somewhat rustic.
