Youthful but really pretty. Still showing primary fruit and baby fat, but this was gorgeous and elegant. It was opened in the am and slow-oxed. Lots of classic red/black fruits, violets, tar and baking spices.

starting to come together. oak is still predominant for the first couple of hours and it hinders the wine. with the toasty oak gone minty eucalyptus tobacco leather dance beautifully together in this wine.

Still very youthful but outstanding none-the-less. Decanted at home for 3 hours and poured back in the bottle for dinner. Decanted another hour at the restaurant. The nose is reticent but a few swirls gives you a bouquet of violets and iron. Very pure and more crimson than dark fruit. This wine is expressive and complex but the flavors are still slightly compact. I get cherry, sweet tobacco, menthol and some wood shavings. The finish is luxurious and will lengthen with age. Loads of balance, class and vitality. This will only get better and better.

In order to create this density and power in ‘14, I can only imagine the amount of working hours here. It’s just unbelievably great and will cruise effortlessly another 20 years. To be released in the fall of 2018.

Mar 18th, 2018Better than ‘11 but lacks the tension of the ‘08, ‘10 and ‘13 vintages, where the vineyard itself is more evident. This vintage is large scaled and richly flavoured but still showing quintessential Nebbiolo aromas and flavours. From a great grower and very low yields, that is.

Gorgeous, elegant Barolo showing polished texture and tannins, as well as layers of power and delicacy - definitely the wine of the night!
