Extremely smooth, leggy. Currants, bold fruits, oak. Reminds me of an old, beautiful New England farm on the edge of a mountain forest. Pair with pets for a Border Collie.

Mind-bending beauty still found in this 1975(!) Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars “Lot 2” Cabernet - a generous rush of dried currant and menthol on a medium weight frame, with hints of sage and smoke. Sweet fruit, soft tannins, and a finish longer than most. Life affirming with the almond crunch of Batard’s lusty garganelli with lamb ragu.

Wow....even better than the 73 Martha's! I keep saying the 70's were a magical time in the Valley and not just 74, 78 which were tad ripe and now mostly over the hill. These off vintages are more structured and just drinking incredibly well even now! Primary fruit with no pruning and round balance tannins and acids. This 77 Lot 2 was just a incredibly experience :))

Bright and alive. Stripped down to it's true self. Showed no signs of decline. Could of waited another ten years but it had to be opened. Bold fruit had mellowed and the oak had integrated with perfect balance.

Amber reddish color. Clearly has some age. Nose says the same. Plums, cassis, leather, old wood and a little menthol. In the mouth it adds wonderful fruit with softened tannins. Really great old Cal Cab.

Still trucking along...fruit and acidity still alive. Let's have some lamb.

Terrible wine so don't look for it so I can scour the earth and buy and drink it all! These mid 70's Napa gems will never be seen again as that was a timeless era of natural wine making and art lost in today's science.
