2004 | Petite Syrah
San Francisco Bay, USA

Secured with synthetic cork, comical amount of sediment. Ink blue in the glass. Ripe mulberry, tart blueberry, blackberry; blackberry pie with heavy crust, dried blackcurrant; amazing.

I miss when Rosenblum was the shit. Coffee grounds, forest floor, porcini, wet potting soil, black tea. Entering the relaxed, savory/sweet part of its lifecycle. I always felt like a smart guy when I could score all of this wine I wanted while all the collector types drove up the price of Ridge York Creek.

Intensely jammy, hints of toluene, softened tannins, and ready to drink.

Yum ... 2004 was a great year, and this bottle dates to before Rosenblum was sold!

Loved with the goat cheese and chorizo pastry crust at Bottle rock LA. A beautiful inky velvet petite sirah.

Plenty dark but also slightly reduced. Fleshy, plummy and bit spicy. Not quite better on day two. Will teapot pack other bottles later in the winter.

Prob didn’t need to have this btl at the end of the night, but it had a great, sweet richness. Lots of vanilla bean, soft chocolate finesse. What a treat - especially after having a 2017 Imposter early in the nite! Thx Jeff Cohn.

One of the things I like the most about having a wine cellar is buying something for a song and forgetting about. It’s a double edged sword because sometimes it just doesn’t work out. In this case it did. Still fresh and loaded with fruit (as expected) and in a perfect drinking window.
