It's time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday.

Deep purple in color with a short purple rim.

Fruity nose of plums, cherries, strawberries, spices, light wood, earth and vanilla.

Full bodied with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with black plums, cooked cherries, oak, vanilla, chocolates, coffee, peppercorn, licorice and spices.

Tangy finish with soft tannins.

This is a nice everyday Merlot from Napa Valley. Easy drinking with a nice mouthfeel. Fruit forward with mild complexity.

Good right out of the bottle and spicy. I had it all by itself.

A blend of mostly Merlot grapes, with a touch of Syrah and Zinfandel. Aged in French oak barrels for 12 months.

13.9% alcohol by volume.

88 points.

$22.

Tight, unexpressive nose. Dark fruits and a very tannic palate.

Give at least an hour to decant. Ripe red and black cherry and plum, green notes of bell pepper, mint, and a clear medicinal quality, notes of alcohol-y vanilla extract, prunes, and wet leaves in the bouquet. Juicy mouthfeel with cherry and plum, kirsch and prune on the palate with some mild black tea tannins on a medium-short finish. Cooked medicinal fruit a tad strong for my taste but overall a balanced and restrained Merlot. May benefit from a few years of cellaring
