60% Sangiovese, 20% Ciliegiolo, 20% Syrah, vines 4 - 20 years, clay and Limestone and Silt with Galestro rocks. WOW this is fantastic. Light and perfect. The Syrah only accentuates the Sangiovese to my mind. This does not feel tired in any universe; it's pretty perfect. It does have some chocolate and rust, but there's so much bright fruit it's alive and fresh. Nose initially has waxy, B vitamin component, then goes slightly plummy followed with a big whallop of strawberry; leads to big pomegranate and leather on the palate. Goddamn I love old school Sangiovese.

Here’s a delicious IGT Toscana comprised of 60% Sangiovese, 20% Syrah, and 20% Ciliegiolo varieties with a great QPR (quality-to-price-ratio) in the $20s.

It has a medium ruby hue and is dry with a sound structure of medium(+) acidity, high alcohol (14% ABV), and medium(+) chalky tannins, not to mention concentrated aromas and flavors of red cherry, plum, blackberry, black raspberry, blackcurrant, dried oregano, tomato leaf, licorice, vanilla, leather.

Also offering spice notes such as nutmeg, cinnamon, star anise, clove likely imparted by 6 months aging in French oak barrels.

Juicy & fresh. The Syrah addition in this adds weight some darker fruited notes. This is a perfect Monday evening wine. Not much fuss, uncomplicated & delicious.

This is good, highly tannic. Probably better later, this is 2016, not sure how long decanted.
