First bottle of our Greece exploration. Naoussa region, Xinomavro grape. Referred to as Nebbiolo of Greece. Well, it is 90% right. More herbal nose but same mouthfeel, lots of power but even more elegance. Tons of QPR. I had Barbarescos at more than double the price not even as good as this. Will certainly get a spot in my cellar...

Vintage 2010 - tasted blind, to fool my Barolo loving friends (@Berry Marinussen and @Noel Geisen recognized xinomavro, bravo). Xinomavro is Greece’s answer to nebbiolo, says Hugh Johnson. Very light colour, minerals in smell, plums. A bit difficult taste, certainly not middle-of-the-road, high in bitters and much power. Lots of character, I’d say. After aeration it’s smooth, though. Very interesting to taste. #greece #xinomavro pff, it’s an acquired taste, says my winefriend. It is 😉.

Highly regarded Greek red variety, sadly didn't get to drink this in it's native home so in our home whilst reminiscing will do.
For $20 this is a great wine.

Pleasantly surprising. Nothing outstanding from a winemaking standpoint, but a lovely expression of fruit. I wouldn't have guessed Greece. Pinot noir-like, medium- body, gorgeous aromas. I'd buy this.
