Washington State Merlot

Sourced from Dionysus 24%, Pepper Bridge 24%, Seven Hills 38%, Wallula 14%.
There is always something a bit confected/fudgey for me in serious Washington state reds, and this is no different. Cherry cola, chocolate on the nose and while finely ethhed tannins exist, the structure of acid fails a bit leaving a slightly gloppy feel. Maybe age, maybe the region/era?
It was interesting to taste older wine from serious vineyards.

Nail polish volatility - so ... opened up a second bottle. Same flaws. Will reach out to Rob Newsom ... this is embarrassing.

Agree w ratings - high acidity merlot ... Still developing on day 3 but why is this so hard to fall in love with ... Screams cool climate

Really don't know what to think. Is it an off bottle?....unique flavor profile?........has it gone bad?.....I have no idea. Tastes flawed but can't pin point why. Wreaks of smoky plum and finishes with apple skins. Disjointed and just plain out weird.

Black cherry with spice notes. Firm tannins that subside slightly over a few hours.

Really nice. Rich berry and cherry flavors with slight spice.

Medicinal. Cork broke and the top is sealed in wax. Almost certain it’s a bad bottle rather than not holding up. Have one more so will see.
