Much better after it opens up. Pop it and decant or wait an hour.

Dark blackish purple in the glass. Nose of blackberry and wood. Very firm tannins greet on entry. Full bodied palate of leather, blackberry and other dark fruits with high, juicy acidity. Medium long finish. Excellent food wine of course. Oh yeah, this bottle has been open for nine days and it’s still fresh as on opening.

Green, vegetal, dramatic tannin and bracing acidity in the finish. Dusty, prune-y. I love this wine in the front and mid palate, kind of falls apart in the finish. Sour red fruit note paired with booming acidity retract from ponderous beginnings. Dumped it in the decanter and will update if there's a full scale change.

Chateau is located the furthest south in the Madiran appellation. Dates from the 17th century and acquired by Jean Jacques Lesgourgues in 1999. A blend of 70% Tannat, 25% Cab Franc & 5% Cab Sauv. Dark Ruby with concentrated berry aromas and sweet spice. On the palate raspberry jam with notes of vanilla and bits of pepper. Big strong ripe tannins, structured, lingering ending with an underlying mineral character. Good value, drink now! Tasting Sample.

Took a while for this wine to open up and for me to adjust to just how dense and powerful it is. Prunes and dirt and tannin, lots of tannin.

Oh hey, Heart of Darkness. I do so love your soulful/scary intensity, your dark #Tannat heart and surprising levity from half-tank maturation. Could it be that - with just a little help from some fatty country pate - we could live happily ever after?? #pondering #glasshalffull

Pretty big and hints of alcohol at first but after decanting a day old, tastes better. Green pepper, medium acidity, high tannins. Stewed berries and liquorish on the finish.
