A slightly vegetal note. On the palate some vanilla sweetness. A bit out of kilter

This is a tasty oaky Chardonnay from Chalk Hill in Russian River Valley.

Dry on the palate with mild complexity.

Showing oak, vanilla, lemons, apples, pears and light spices.

Spicy finish with almonds.

A good quality wine. Easy drinking, elegant and bold.

Still young and has good potential to be better in a few years.

A nice food wine, and good for parties, too.

I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.

100% Chardonnay grapes were aged in (40% new) French Oak barrels for 11 months. Unfiltered.

14.9% alcohol by volume.

88 points.

$30.

A Fav! Medium lemon with aromas of stone fruits, spice, floral, cedar, biscuits and citrus. On the palate apple, pear & ripe apricot with some citrus zest, honeysuckle and nutty toasty oak notes, rich with creamy tones. Smooth, long finish, well balanced with acidity, ending with fruit and integrated creamy oak. Nice! Just tried my first ‘19, outstanding!!

The 2018 Chardonnay is loaded with apricot, tangerine peel, pineapple and sweet new oak. The overt, racy style works well here. A hint of reduction on the finish adds a nice counterpoint. Drink this mid-weight, easygoing Chardonnay over the next handful of years. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, July 2021)

Very very creamy and robust. You have to like big chardonnay to enjoy this! (Luckily for me I like all forms of Chardonnay.) I don’t find the oak overwhelming here though. It’s more MLF bold than oak bold, if that’s makes sense? 🤷‍♀️ Oak is definitely present — I just don’t find it over the top. Pineapple, cream, vanilla, lemon curd.
