The next step up for Carignan (above L'Orangerie), this 70 merlot/20 cab sauv/10 cab franc shows a great black cherry nose blended with subtle oak. In 2013, it's time to open this up and enjoy. Beautiful claret color.

Dec 5th, 2013Nice, but the ratings make me want to compare with the 2007. Found in back of a shelf. Like an orchid on a chilly morning, it took awhile to open up. When it did we found slight acidity and wiffs of blackberries and cherries.

Medium bodied, tapered off to the ends, blackberry, plum, French oak and hint of licorice. Silky smooth, fruit and spice on the palate.

Given as gift from Maarten and Sabine for Kari and coops's 2015 birthdays, in conjunction with the 2016 Prima from the same winemaker. Opened and enjoyed at Kalaloch (cabin #2) on January 2, 2016. Nose: wood smoke, dried apricot, heather, pine, rum raisin. Taste: cedar, pine, plum, apple peal, rare beef.
