Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc

Straight out of the bottle, the color of Domaine du Nozay's 2021 Sancerre suggests that this is not a conventional cuvée. Certified as organic and biodynamic, followed up with minimal intervention in the winery, it has a golden appearance. It displays a rich, lightly oxidative nose of baked apples, honey and an atypical but intriguing herbal character akin to fennel. Full and silky in the mouth, there's an appealing phenolic hug on the finish. This is an attractive wine, but for those looking for classic Sancerre for quaffing on a summer's day, this is not it. Seems ripe, a little oxidized, baked pear, older flowers, flint, high acidity.

Honey, white flower, botrytis on the nose, with sweet citrus and floral notes on the pallet.

Fancy seeing this in Malaysia. This wine's a throwback to when I first got into wine back in Australia. I can clearly remember being recommended this Sancerre by our local bottle shop as a study of the appellation. In hindsight, I can see why. Excellent typicity in this 2018 iteration - on the nose, ripe gooseberry and melon fruit, flint, and a grassy asparagus-like note. The palate's less overt, showing more grapefruit and green apple. It finishes a little "sweet" for my liking, but that's tamed by crisp acidity and a subtle stony character. While it doesn't bode well with my preference these days, this drinks well as a nice trip down memory lane.

Very politely hits all of my buttons for Sancerre. Mineral, acidic, lime, Asian fruits, and a fascinating, mossy, “pond water” quality.

A Sancerre that is close to flawless, with a bit of creaminess to it. SOLD!!

Stone fruits and minerals. Really fun to drink on its own or with a delicious meal.

Classic Sancerre SB: grapefruit, fresh cut grass, lemon zest with great acidity.

Quite nice. Easy to drink and lasted a while with Coravin, which is unusual for whites.
