Cherry/raspberry cola, pencil lead, vanilla bean bouillabaisse, tar give way to silky tannins that last for a minute. Brava Toro, brava!

From the sandy soils of Maurodos vineyards in the northern quadrant of the Toro is the source of fruit for the Prim'a. This is what you would consider their second wine as it is priced at about half the price of the San Roman.
The Garcia family are very important in the Spanish wine scene as father Mariano made what many consider the best vintages of Vega Sicilia from '68-'98, retired and opened Mauro in RdD and here in Toro Maurodos (Mauro2 lol). The sons Eduardo and Alberto do most of the heavy lifting these days at Maurodos.
A plush nose and velvety palate, vanilla and bing cherry dominate up front, but this needs an hour to blow some of that off and settle in to more complex shades of currants, licorice and cinnamon. Fantastic
#tempranillo value at $16-20. #toro

Powerful berries, maraschino cherry with subtle, dusty tannins. Big crowd pleaser.

I just love the wines from Toro region of Spain. Deep red for this 100% Tempranillo, showing juicy dark fruit aromas and hints of spice. On the palate cherry and blackberry flavors with cacao and pepper spice, nice firm tannins that carry this wine to a lingering finish. Nice value.

Newest vintage, which should land in the US in late June. More floral, red fruited and gulpable than the 2013. #GOS2016

A pretty firmly structured vintage of Prima. Dense with a hint of fig to the dark fruit. Finishes with firm but silky tannins. #gos2016
