Took time to open up. Smoked meat, dry briars, cracked rocks, dried mushrooms, wild raspberries, fresh flowers, under ripe strawberry, fresh white mushroom, gravel, rosemary, cherry and pomegranate. Still wound really tight at 13 years old; feels like it needs at least another 5 years to open up.

In a good place. Green edges balanced with fragrant yet brooding profile. A triumph of a difficult vintage.

Not that bottle, cork was not right...even though it has been in my cellar for years, the cork was wet to the neck...I’ll open something else!

Open and earthy. Fruit might be a bit closed at this point in its life.

At 10 years and with a fair bit of air, only just starting to blossom - dark fruits with great power & structure - a definite thumbs up!

I opened this way too early, so ripe and muscular... I think I'll hold on to my '12 a bit longer.

Very tight and tense yet supremely enjoyable. A nose of smoked meat, raspberry, flowers, and a slight strawberry. The palate has great breadth and concentration yet delicate and ethereal while still feeling tightly wound. That said, there is a beautiful cool fruit of cherry and pomegranate but smoke, meat and crushed rocks dominate right now. Actually pretty good right out of the bottle but continuously develops and demands some time in the cellar. 2011

If you made #Pinot this good, you’d use Mary Tyler Moore Show font, too; Daniel Rion Clos Vougeot '99: rose petals & minerals on the complex nose, medium-bodied & silky in the bouche
