Pomerol Red Bordeaux Blend

Elegant and smokey. Lots of tobacco. Good inner mouth aromas and very juicy. Nice. Persistent and long.

Dark and alluring, with flavours of cherry, blackberry and a hearty, slightly bitter undercurrent of dark chocolate and coffee beans. The mouthfeel is very supple, with medium acidity and almost imperceptible tannins leading through to a pleasing, if short, finish.

This is really fruit-oriented and doesn’t show many secondary or tertiary characteristics, and as such isn’t the most complete of BDX. It is nonetheless a very enjoyable Pomerol and another wine I’ve enjoyed from the overlooked 2011 vintage.

Luscious earthy Bordeaux. You can smell the dirt. Wonderful tannins and dark cherry.

Slightly flashy but overall greatness.

2009. Half bottle. Delightful nose of cedar and blackberry fruit leather. Big fruit is balanced by a pleasantly grippy finish.

Have very little experience with right bank Bordeaux in general and pomerol specifically. This is certainly not bad, but was hoping it would be more interesting. Quite seamless on the palate with good dark wild fruit, not too much oak, tannins balanced. But finish is somewhat lackluster with a bit of fizzle and less acid than I was hoping.
