Really delightful Chilean blend built on Carmenere. To me, the 35% Syrah goes a long way. Powerful yet refined.

2008 Maquis Lien. A graceful Bordeaux blend with tannins beginning to resolve, best enjoyed with Xavier Chone and Ricardo Rivadaneira

Granite and Slate on the nose with a soft finish. Paired with flank steak brought out the pepper and fruit.

Vina Maquis 2010. Colchagua valley Chile. Carmenere 50%, syrah 35%, cab franc 10%, Petit verdot 5%. I love the fact that this is 50% carmenere and I love it!!!! 13.5% alc. The color is dark- the bouquet is raspberry sherbet. The initial palate is raspberry and blackberry fruits followed by a spicy peppery mid palate. There is oak and dirt on the finish with a dry completion. It is typical of a great blend but they use carmenere instead of cabernet sauvignon. Very Cool!!!!

A trip to Costco & I’m home with this -painting a room & listening to some jazz. Quiet night at home & this is the perfect companion! Very happy with this spur-of-the-moment pic!

Nice big bold blend. Lacking some balance to be great.
