Ten year check in. Baby fat is all gone and this is savory and slightly dried out with herbal and reticent black fruits aromas. Hoping this turns a corner in the next few years.

Fun. Love this throwback to the time before Aussie Shiraz was the Argentine Malbec of today.

Feels the (likely) acid addition, but delicious in a very Oz way. Ready to go. May improve, but may also become more disjointed.

Took a while to open up. Lifted white pepper, cured meats and medium bodied earthy red fruits.

First of the four reds for the blind tasting of Non-American Shiraz/Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon Tasting.

Medium garnet red with bricking on the edges. Stinky and dirty cellar attack on the nose with earthy characteristics, some floral notes, mesquite smoke, red berries and gamey notes. More olives and leather on day two. Medium tannins (5/10) and light to medium bodied. Solid acidity with a bit of the bite near the finish. Palate has some layers of raspberries, floral and spicy notes, a little smoked, olive tapenade, and red cherries. Dry and minerality in the medium finish. Drink till 2018.

Friday night and wanting to try something different. I stopped by my store of choice and going in looked in other areas than I normally do. I was drawn to this 2013 Domaine Terlato & Chapoutier Lieu-Dit Malakoff Pyrenees Shiraz from the Victoria area of Australia. Not being big on Syrah/Shiraz I need to expand my wine world into more of this type of wine.

The nose is very expressive with lots of dark fruits, blackberry, blueberry, black pepper, allspice, licorice, chocolate and cured meat.

On the palate the dark fruit continues through with notes of blackberry, blueberry, clove, black pepper, spice, herbs, licorice, and rich soil.

This wine is full bodied with a well rounded mouth feel, medium + acidity and medium + chewy tannins that lead into a long dark fruit finish. Enjoy the weekend and try different things to help round out your life. Please stay safe. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Intriguing Aussie Syrah. Rich flavor, no barnyard at all. Weak in the finish. Interesting but just ok.

Emulating of a northern Rhone style Syrah, it's mellow with an engaging and youthful presence that carries it through.

Always a bit more subdued than its South Australian peers, but still plenty of punch in the glass.

Black fruit, spice, saviry, eucalyptus, aromatic. M acid, tannin and body. Fruit forward. Lean and elegant.
