Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. This estate owes its name to Connetable Talbot, the English general & governor of the province of Guyenne who was defeated at the famous Battle of Castillon in 1453. Deep Ruby, purple hues, with aromas of black fruits, herb, tobacco and earthy notes. On the palate flavors of plums and black currants with cacao and tobacco spice, on a well balanced frame. Fine tight tannins, long finish ending with fruit, earthy spice and cedar character. Nice!

Blend of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot & 3% Cabernet Franc, deep Ruby color with aromas of berry fruit aromas and herb notes. On the palate flavors of black cherry and blackberry, currant-like, with tobacco, cacao and smoky oak notes. Fine polished tannins, long finish ending with fruit and earthy mineral tones, almost starting to drink well but will last for the next decade+.

Night two at Bern’s. We’re going for some incremental age tonight. Chosen for its good color, despite a low fill. Reddish tawny color, a bit cloudy, and has a high pitched nose at first. Notes of red fruit, cedar and cranberries initially. With more air, the nose settles down to show more Bordeaux character including dusty earth, wood desk and gravel stone. This blossomed after 30 or so minutes, then began to decline. At peak it had a 95 point nose. Overall it was a great experience.

Nose has blackberry/blueberry jam, fresh roses, burnt leather, cigar humidor, dried mud and spring violets.

Palate has rain soaked blackberries, ripe plum, dried orange zest, cedar, dried blueberries with mild tannins. Lovely wine.

Purchased in February 2005; $34. Fantastic price for this great Fourth Growth producer, I wish we'd bought a lot more on this vintage.

Decanted 5H at the time of notes, more time appreciated. A beautiful wine, drink 2025-2030. Paired with Allen Bros. rib caps tonight, delectable. 😉

Rich, robust structure. Ripe blackberries and plum, slight bitter dark chocolate. New oak shows heavily on the nose. Ripe tannins that will soften with age. This can be laid down easily another 10+ years.

Love trying birth year Bordeaux! This had slight Brett that eventually went away. Classic nose of cigar box, roasted herbs, old leather. Drink Now.
