One of those bottles that has been in the cellar for too many years. At one point, I also had the non-“PLUS” version of this wine but that was consumed a while back. Both are 100% Cabernet Sauvignon however, the PLUS version sees 200% new French oak; meaning it is aged for 12 months in new barrels and the transferred to another new barrel for an additional 12 months. In the glass, it looks young from a color standpoint but there’s a good amount of sediment. On the nose, this is a baking spice bomb with currants and tobacco...a touch of damp earth. On the palate, it’s a combination of subtle red and dark fruits with tobacco and baking spices. But the thing that stands out most is the heavy handed use of oak. In my opinion, the fruit just doesn’t stand up to such lavish barrel treatment and frankly, everything about this wine come across as a touch obnoxious. The fruit quality is high. I know that because the non-PLUS version was enjoyable, I just don’t have much appreciation for this style.

Great wine with good blend of full body and flavor. Goes really well with medium rare dry aged steak

A surprisingly nice Cabernet! Relatively light and lots of flavor. Oak and earth flavors with a bit of spice

Well integrated tannins, great on the nose. Full deep color with smooth finish.
