Very dense in colour - impenetrable. It threw a large crust when decanting. On the nose coffee grounds and savoury black cherry, black plum. Sweetish on the full bodied concentrated palate. The savoury plum comes through with rich earthy flavours. Finishing with grainy tannins. Tempranillo seems perfectly suited to the warm dry conditions of Rioja. I couldn’t imagine Tempranillo showing its best in a cool to cold climate. I guess it does exist but it does seem best suited to warm climates. I just finished an interesting article on what grape varietal lasts the longest. From many tastings over many years Jancis concluded it was Tempranillo over Bordeaux with some old Vega Sicilias seemingly timeless.

2010. Tons of French oak. If you drink it today it's a solid steak wine. More barrel than grape. Maybe in 10 years I'd like to drink it. Undoubtedly it will age decades.

Dark and dense colour. Nose is deep and brooding with plum, dark cherry and iron. Med bodied but powerful without losing freshness. Tannins are restrained but carry the fresh fruit. Really needed time to open up. After 1+hr the wine became more expressive - more tannin, more weight, and deeper funk notes. Not complex but well balanced and pure.

Väldigt frisk doft och fyllig men fjäderlätt kropp. Komplex smak som bär, järn och mineral. Integrerad hög alkohol . Lite speciell smakuppbyggnad där strukturerna kommer först och frukten i eftersmaken. Men får den här några år till på sig kommer nog harmonin förhöja det hela mycket.
